CASE STUDY:
Emiliano Jiménez, a 55-year-old male client (DOB: 9/27/1969), presents to the clinic for a follow-up appointment after he was hospitalized last week for an MI with stent placement and started on aspirin, clopidogrel, and atorvastatin. His lab work from the hospital indicated elevated LDL cholesterol levels, a hemoglobin A1c of 7%, and normal kidney function. The NP performs a physical assessment, which indicates the PCI access site is healing, there is no evidence of hematoma or bleeding, and the rest of the physical exam is otherwise normal. The NP considers the need for additional medications given the client’s new diagnoses of high cholesterol, MI, and CAD.
