After successful completion of this week’s module, the student will be able to:
· Compare and contrast the key concepts and principles in traditional psychoanalytic vs relational psychodynamic approaches.
· Summarize and identify the role of transference and countertransference in the therapeutic process.
· Explain the application of some techniques commonly used: free association, interpretation, dream analysis, and the analysis and interpretation of resistance and transference.
· Describe and infer contemporary trends in psychoanalytically-oriented therapy.
· Analyze the strengths and the shortcoming of psychodynamic approaches.
· Develop self-awareness of how theoretical models correspond with personal values and views on change.
