Assignment Introduction and Context:
Someone once said that good leaders have the ability to deconstruct poor systems and replace them with superior solutions. Leaders must be ready to both “end” and “start” initiatives in their organizations. This means that they help lead a community toward its vision and goals. Good leaders spot missed opportunities and broken systems and test them against the organization’s values and vision. It takes wisdom and courage and many counselors to lead well. Try to recall the story of Moses, the story of King David, the leadership of Esther, or stories of others who brought deep change and effective results in their ministries. In this assignment, you will do personal sharing about your own experiences.
Tasks:
In 200–300 words, post to the Discussion Area your response to one of the following:
How have you helped your organization toward its goals by affirming its vision and values? Share example(s). If not your own experience, speak about an individual you saw doing this in your organization.
When have you been a bit of a challenger in removing a value- or vision-blocking practice from your organization? Share example(s). If not your own experience, speak about an individual you saw doing this in your organization.
